At the end of the settlement date of September 14, 2007, short interest in 2,714 NASDAQ Global Market(sm) securities totaled 8,138,297,370 shares compared with 8,809,420,409 shares in 2,747 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of August 15, 2007. The mid-September short interest represents 4.00 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.54 days for the prior reporting period.

Trading will start in 28 April 2008. However, to enhance liquidity and provide a clearing mechanism, trading on Select and the inter-office telephone markets will be available from 25 February 2008.
