SEC Charges N.Y.-Based Broker-Dealer And Founder In Multi-Million Dollar Transatlantic Boiler Room Scheme

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged New York-based broker-dealer Sky Capital LLC and six individuals involved in a fraudulent boiler room scheme that raised millions of dollars from U.S. and UK investors who were then restricted from selling their stock, and their investments later became worthless.

CBOE: "VIX Futures And Options: A Case Study Of Portfolio Diversification During The 2008 Financial Crisis" Released

A recently released University of Massachusetts study found that certain investments in futures and options on the CBOE Volatility Index(R) (VIX(R)) could have reduced downside risk for a typical institutional investment portfolio during the 2008 financial crisis.

NYSE Euronext Statement Regarding Cyber Attack

NYSE Euronext has been informed by authorities that its public Web site -- nyse.com -- has been the subject of a "denial of service" cyber attack. To date, nyse.com has not experienced any impact, which may be the result of its security design. It is important to note that such an attack has not and could not impact the trading and data systems of NYSE Euronext markets, which operate on private networks. We will continue to work with authorities on this situation.

NASDAQ OMX Welcomes The European Commission Communication On Derivatives Markets

The NASDAQ OMX Group (Nasdaq: NDAQ) today commented on the EU Commission Communication on “Ensuring efficient, safe and sound derivatives markets.” NASDAQ OMX welcomes the communication and in particular supports the European Commission's move to consider measures to ensure that CCP clearing - wherever possible - becomes the norm for OTC derivatives markets as a whole. NASDAQ OMX also welcomes the recognition of the preference for transparent trading venues.

Six months into 2009, the WSE maintains a high fourth place in Europe regarding index futures contracts volumes. WIG20 futures contract is on 7th place (one place higher than in Q1 ‘09) among European index contracts. WIG20 options are on 11th place in terms of turnover volume among European index options.

Toronto Stock Exchange Surpasses 100 Exchange Traded Product Listings

TMX Group today announced that Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) now lists more than 100 exchange traded funds and exchange traded notes (ETFs). This significant milestone was achieved with the listing of the Horizons BetaPro Winter-Term NYMEX Crude Oil ETF and three other Horizons BetaPro ETFs last week.
