July 2010 Monthly Preliminary Performance Report Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Indexes

The Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Index was up 3.30% for the month of July. The Dow Jones-UBS Single Commodity Indexes for Wheat, Sugar and Lead had the strongest gains with month-to-date returns of 24.15%, 13.70%, and 12.83%, respectively. The three most significant downside performing single commodity indexes were Gold, Silver and Natural Gas, which were down -4.67%, -3.24%, and -1.91% respectively, in July.

ETFS Publishes Its Commodities Review For H1 2010 - Highlighting Fundamental Factors Driving Performance

ETF Securities today publishes the full findings of its Commodities Review for H1 2010. Highlights include: The precious metals sector was the best performing commodity sector in H1 2010, up 13%. Gold was the strongest performer rising 23% in Sterling, 34% in Euro and 14% in US dollars, continuing its run as one of the best performing assets over the past ten years. This compares to a 14% decline in the FTSE 100 Index and a 20% decline in the EuroStoxx 50 index in USD over the period1.
