Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Indexes End 2011 Lower As December Prices Fall On Concerns About Europe And China, Weather

The Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Index ended 2011 down 13.37% following a drop of 3.75% in December – a month in which prices were pressured by sovereign debt concerns, signs of a cooling economy in major commodity consumer China, plus unseasonable weather in some regions.

Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Indexes December 2011 Performance Report

The Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Index ended 2011 down 13.37%. The Dow Jones-UBS Single Commodity Indexes for gas oil, orange juice and brent crude had the strongest gains producing year-end returns of 19.41%, 18.75%, and 16.77%, respectively. The three most significant downside performing single commodity indexes in 2011 were cocoa, wheat and natural gas, which ended the year down 32.41%, 34.02% and 47.13% respectively.

New Requirements For Performance Disclosure Of ChiNext-listed Companies:To Improve Transparency Of Listed Companies And Efficiency Of Information Disclosure

The companies listed on the ChiNext Board generally have a small company and market scale, a large performance fluctuation range, but a long legal time limit for annual report disclosure. And the annual performance prediction is only required for several extraordinary situations, which cannot meet the investors’ requirements for mastering the performance change in time. To improve the transparency of the companies listed on the ChiNext Board, ensure that the investors can obtain the annual performance information of these companies and reduce their conjecture and irrational speculation on company performance, Shenzhen Stock Exchange issued Circular on Making Improvements to the Listed Companies' Disclosure of 2011 Annual Report on January 4, 2012, stating that no matter whether the situations mentioned in Section 11.3.1 of the ChiNext Stock Listing Rules will occur, the listed companies on the ChiNext Board shall disclose the 2011 annual performance prediction before January 31, 2012. Thanks to this measure, the investors can obtain the annual performance prediction of the listed companies in advance for one month at least.
