The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) welcomes the re-appointment by the HKSAR Chief Executive of Dr Eddy Fong as Non-Executive Chairman effective from 20 October 2011 to 19 October 2012. 

New Zealand's Securities Trustees And Statutory Supervisors Act Comes Into Force

From 1 October, 2011 securities trustees and statutory supervisors will be regulated under new rules overseen by the Financial Markets Authority.

Bursa Malaysia Derivatives' Total Contracts Hit 31-Year Historic High

Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Berhad's (BMD) total trading volume hit a new record of 6,228,632 contracts as of the close of mid-day trading on 28 September, surpassing the previous annual high of 6,202,686 contracts recorded for the whole of 2007. This is the highest ever number of contracts traded annually since 1980.

The circuit breaker level for Raw Sugar futures was triggered two times in thenight session of the Clearing Period of September 29, 2011.

CFTC Requests Public Comment On An Application By Eurex Clearing AG For Registration As A Derivatives Clearing Organization

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is asking for public comment on an application by Eurex Clearing AG for registration as a derivatives clearing organization. Commission staff intends to complete its review of the application on or before March 31, 2012.

Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Friday, September 30, 2011:

• U.S. Silver Corporation. (TSXVN:USA) will be removed from the index as well as the S&P/TSX Venture Select Index. The company will graduate to trade on TSX under the same ticker symbol.
• Parex Resources Inc. (TSXVN:PXT) will be removed from the index. The company will graduate to trade on TSX under the same ticker symbol.
