HKEx Changes Of Designated Securities For Short Selling

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announces that with effect from 3 November 2011 (Thursday), 18 additional securities will be eligible for short selling and 97 existing designated securities will be removed from the list.  The total number of designated securities for short selling will be 646 after the revision.

EuroInvestors : The Reform Of Financial Markets Proposed By The European Commission (“Mifid 2”): Give Back Capital Markets To The Real Economy Users: Non Financial Investors And Issuers

“MiFID 1” has further discouraged EU citizens and non financial issuers (SMEs in particular) from investing on the capital markets, favoring again their “re-intermediation” by financial intermediaries. Although the EU official reports remain silent on this fundamental financial, economic and political issue, we estimate that the share of the European individual investors in the European equity markets is now down to around 10% from about 50 % a few decades ago. The evolution is even worse for the bond markets.

Securities Commission Malaysia: Former Transmile Directors Sentenced To Jail And Fined For Misleading Disclosures

The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today found two former independent directors of Transmile Group Berhad guilty under section 122B(b)(bb) of the Securities Industry Act 1983, for having authorized the furnishing of a misleading statement to Bursa Malaysia in Transmile’s ‘Quarterly Report on Unaudited Consolidated Results for the Financial Year Ended 31 December 2006’.

Thai Bourse Lists Gold-Based ETF “BCHAY” On Nov. 1

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will list Bualuang CHAY Gold ETF, managed by Bualuang Asset Management Co., Ltd, on its main board starting from November 1, under the ticker “BCHAY.”
