Fitch Downgrades Greece To 'Restricted Default' From 'C'

Fitch Ratings has downgraded Greece's Long-term foreign and local currency Issuer Default Ratings (IDRs) to 'RD' ('Restricted Default') from 'C' following today's confirmation from the Greek government and eurozone officials that the exchange of Greek government bonds will proceed.

Rating Action: Moody's Downgrades Greece To C From Ca

Moody's Investors Service has today downgraded Greece's local- and foreign-currency bond ratings to C from Ca and has not assigned an outlook to the ratings. Today's rating decision was prompted by the recently announced debt exchange proposals for Greece, which imply expected losses to investors in excess of 70%, which is consistent with Moody's criteria for a C rating.

The end-of-February short interest represents 3.55 days average daily NASDAQ Global Marketshare volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.47 days for the prior reporting period.

Statement By IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde On Greece

Managing Director Christine Lagarde of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) today made the following statement on Greece:

“Today I have consulted with the IMF’s Executive Board and on that basis, as discussed with the Greek government, I intend to recommend a €28 billion (about US$36.7 billion) arrangement under the Fund’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) to support Greece’s ambitious economic program over the next four years."
