SEC Proposes Rule To Disqualify Felons And Bad Actors From Securities Offerings

The Securities and Exchange Commission today proposed a rule to deny certain securities offerings from qualifying for exemption from registration if they involve certain “felons and other bad actors.”

New York Stock Exchange member firms that conduct business with the public reported a first-quarter 2011 after-tax profit of $6.1 billion and revenues of $46.0 billion, compared with a $4.1 billion after-tax gain on revenues of $41.0 billion in the fourth-quarter of 2010.

The Board of London Stock Exchange Group plc (“LSEG”) notes the announcement today from TMX Group Inc. (“TMX”) that it has obtained an interim order of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice which provides for, amongst other things, the holding of a special meeting of holders of common shares of TMX to approve the previously announced plan of arrangement regarding the proposed merger with LSEG (the “Merger”) and that the annual and special meeting of TMX shareholders is scheduled to be held on June 30, 2011.

NYSE Liffe U.S., the U.S. futures exchange of NYSE Euronext (NYX), today announced further enhancements to its Designated Market Maker (DMM) program designed to provide robust and ongoing liquidity to its MSCI-based futures complex. The enhanced DMM program features a new Migration Bonus Pool incentivizing DMMs to provide aggressive two-sided markets in institutional size in the central order book for the June 2011- September 2011 calendar roll. The new program enhancements are intended to provide the highest possible levels of market quality for participants rolling positions from the June 2011 expiry onto the September 2011 contract month. NYSE Liffe U.S. will become the sole U.S. exchange for MSCI index-based futures products effective trade date June 20, 2011 as a result of the delisting from CME of futures based on the MSCI EM and MSCI EAFE indices.
