Chairman Issa, Ranking Member Cummings, and members of the Committee, thank you for the opportunity to testify today on developments in Europe. Europe is a key strategic and economic partner of the United States, and we have an enormous stake in the success of European efforts to restore financial stability and secure growth. The U.S. recovery is getting stronger, but the strength of our recovery will depend in part on events beyond our shores, as we saw last year when U.S. growth was buffeted by headwinds from Europe.

BT and the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE) today announced that market data from the ISE is now accessible to the 15,000+ global member sites in the BT Radianz Cloud. The ISE’s relationship with BT makes it easier for investors in Europe and beyond to access ISE information and is expected to expand the ISE’s existing international reach for its market data. 

Top 15 Sovereign And Corporate Credit Default Swaps - Provided By The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC)

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) is publishing a weekly email containing simple, easy-to-read tables listing credit default swaps (CDS) contracts on the top 15 sovereign and corporate reference entities by net notional amount as well as the Top 10 volume movers, both corporate and sovereign, by percentage change based on the net notional amount registered in its Trade Information Warehouse for the week ending March 16, 2012, along with historical data.

The NYSE Big StartUp^SM, a nationwide jobs-growth initiative designed to connect young companies and entrepreneurs with corporate America, was launched today by NYSE Euronext (NYX) in collaboration with Accion, Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) and The Startup America Partnership. The program calls on the nation’s corporate community to lend support, experience and resources to startups and small companies to improve procurement, networking, business development, training, marketing and information sharing. Yelp (NYSE: YELP), LinkedIn (NYSE: LNKD) and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) are among the first corporations to participate in this endeavor. In addition to information and events to be provided as part of the initiative, a microfinance program called the Accion NYSE Job Growth Fund, started with a $1.5 million commitment by NYSE Euronext, will provide small businesses and startups with the capital and support they need to grow.

• Nord Pool Spot market share of Nordic consumption was 72.9% in February.
• The total Nordic preliminary consumption for February was 38.3 TWh compared to 39.8 TWh in January.
• Volumes traded in the day-ahead and intraday markets were 30.9 TWh in February compared to 31.9 TWh in January 2012.
• The average Elspot system price for February was 49.06 EUR/MWh compared to 37.18 EUR/MWh in January 2012.
• The value of turnover in the day-ahead and intraday markets for February was EUR 1.5 billion.

Ziggo, the largest cable operator in the Netherlands, today listed on NYSE  Euronext in Amsterdam and began trading under the symbol “ZIGGO” after its  successful initial public offering. With a total offering valued at  approximately € 804 million Ziggo is the largest IPO in Europe in almost a year.
