Call For Candidates For The Partial Renewal Of The Consultative Working Group Of The ESMA Secondary Markets Standing Committee - Deadline For Applications: 12 April 2013

ESMA today launches a call for candidates interested in becoming a member of the Consultative Working Group (CWG) of the ESMA Secondary Markets Standing Committee. The CWG advises and assists the Standing Committee in all matters related to ESMA work on secondary markets, in particular in relation to issues in the context of the review of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive. This call for candidates is limited to prospective applicants from institutional investors and issuers in order to replace two members who have recently left the CWG.

UK's Serious Fraud Office: Autonomy

As has been widely reported, allegations have been made to the SFO about the circumstances of the sale in 2011 of Autonomy to Hewlett Packard. The Director of the Serious Fraud Office has decided to open an investigation into those allegations, with a view to using its powers of investigation to allow them to be tested. It is, of course, right to point out that the opening of a criminal investigation does not mean that individuals are guilty of a crime or indeed that a crime has been committed.

S&P Dow Jones Indices Announces Changes To The S&P/TSX Canadian Indices - A Deletion From The S&P/TSX Global Mining And Base Metals Indices

S&P Canadian Index Services will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Canadian Indices:
The shareholders of Talison Lithium Limited (TSX:TLH) have accepted the $CDN7.50 cash per share offer from Chengdu Tianqi Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. Talison Lithium will be removed from the S&P/TSX Global Mining, Global Base Metals and Equal Weight Global Base Metals Indices effective after the close of Wednesday, March 13, 2013.

DTCC Proposes Steps To Move Ahead On Full Dematerialization Of Physical Securities

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) today proposed changes in security processing that will help eliminate existing physical certificates as well as end the issuance of new certificates in the U.S. Dematerialization will help to lower costs, mitigate risk and bring greater efficiency to the industry, including the individual shareholder.

S&P Dow Jones Indices Announces Changes To The S&P/TSX Canadian Indices - A Deletion From The S&P/TSX SmallCap Index

S&P Canadian Index Services will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Canadian Indices:
The shareholders of The Brick Ltd. (TSX:BRK) have accepted the terms of a Plan of Arrangement whereby the company will be acquired by Leon’s Furniture Limited (TSX:LNF). Shareholders of The Brick will receive $CDN5.40 cash for every share held. The Brick will be removed from the S&P/TSX SmallCap Index effective after the close of Tuesday, March 19, 2013.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) Division of Market Oversight issued a letter advising the Bolsa de Valores, Marcadorias e Futuros (BVMF-Brazil) that its MICEX Index, Hang Seng Index, FTSE/JSE Top 40 Index, and the BSE Sensitive Index futures contracts submitted for review on January 25, 2013, were deemed certified.

CME Group Announces Open Interest Record In Benchmark Light Sweet Crude Oil (WTI) Futures

CME Group, the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, announced it reached a record in open interest for its global benchmark NYMEX Light Sweet Crude Oil (WTI) futures contracts yesterday, March 11, 2013. Open interest for NYMEX WTI reached 1,725,525 contracts, compared to 1,719,599 on March 7, 2013, the last record for this contract.
