A new EDHEC-Risk Institute publication entitled “Risk Allocation, Factor Investing and Smart Beta: Reconciling Innovations in Equity Portfolio Construction,” drawn from the Amundi ETF & Indexing research chair at EDHEC-Risk Institute on “ETF and Passive Investment Strategies,” shows that it is possible to reconcile the performance of smart beta with control over the risk of the investment.

SGX Renminbi Futures Debuts With Over 1 Billion Yuan In Trading Turnover And Margin Collateral

Singapore Exchange (SGX) yesterday successfully launched the Chinese Renminbi (RMB) futures, namely USD/CNH and CNY/USD futures. Transactions in the new SGX RMB futures achieved a first day volume of 1,836 contracts or approximately RMB 1.1 billion in notional value (equivalent to US$180 million). Trading was robust with active participation from a diverse pool of counterparties. Market makers and key participants for the contracts include Bank of China Singapore branch (BOC), DBS Bank, ICBC Singapore branch (ICBC), Quantrun Investment Management and Virtu Financial.

Bank Of England Statement – Independent Review Into RTGS Payment System Disruption

The Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, has launched a thorough, independent review of the causes of today’s disruption to RTGS, the Bank's system for settling high value payments. The review will cover the causes of the incident, the effectiveness of the Bank’s response and the lessons learned for future contingency plans. Its findings will be presented to Court which will then publish the full report and the response.
