Korea Exchange Market Oversight Commission: Disciplinary Measures Taken Against A Member Company As A Result Of The Spot Market Inspection

The Market Oversight Committee of the Korea Exchange (KRX), at its meeting held for the second time in 2015 (Friday, March 6, 2015), took the following actions against the e-Trade securities company and related staff that were found to have violated the market oversight regulations during the inspection of the spot market. -
Catella: Debt Expansion Ahead

Catella's Real Estate Debt Indicator (CREDI) Main Index rose to 60.3 in February 2015, from 56.6 in October 2014. The trend of slowdown that began in October 2013 is thus broken, and both lenders and borrowers are more optimistic than in October 2014.

Platts China Steel Sentiment Index Rebounded In March - Sentiment Improved On Better Expectations For Domestic Demand Post-Chinese New Year

The outlook for China’s steel market over the next month rebounded dramatically after the Chinese New Year holiday period on expectations of stronger domestic orders, according to the latest Platts China Steel Sentiment Index (Platts CSSI), which showed a headline reading of 72.2 out of a possible 100 points in March.

McKay Brothers Microwave has launched the industry-leading private bandwidth service between Slough and Frankfurt. McKay’s latency between Slough-LD4 and Frankfurt-FR2 is 4.64 milliseconds (ms) round trip, the lowest known. The company is finalizing more routes between the UK and Frankfurt as well as a London Metro service.

The Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) released the “Notice on Relevant Issues of SSE Bond Market’s Institutional Investors Accepting Services of Money Brokers” on March 2, specifying issues on intermediary services provided by money brokers for bond trading upon entrustment by institutional investors in the SSE bond market. The market holds that investors in the exchange-traded bond market could make their transactions easier with the help of money brokers, which will play a positive role in improving the liquidity of the secondary bond market.

In contrast, the functions of investment banks are typically less well understood. This article describes what investment banks do – as well as some of the risks that they can pose – assuming little prior knowledge.
