Bank Levy:
“I am glad that the Chancellor has recognised the vital contribution that banks make to the UK. Banks already pay the greatest share of the total tax contribution in financial services (almost 65%) and account for the greatest share of employment (63%). A strong banking sector is vital to supporting growth throughout the wider economy, and the strength of the UK’s financial services offer is one of the UK’s greatest assets.

Market Review
Last week, Shenzhen Component Index tumbled 15.0% to 12246.1 points. SME Index closed at 8068.1 points after losing 13.3%. ChiNext Index was down 10.8% to 2605.3 points. Total turnover for stocks and funds on SZSE was US$542.2 billion, or a 23.7% increase from the week before.

Greece: MEPs Debate The Country’s Situation With Prime Minister Tsipras

Greece and the best way to resolve the ongoing crisis were hotly debated in plenary on 8 July in the presence of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. While some MEPs criticised him for his lack of concrete proposals, others praised him while some urged him to take his country out of the eurozone. The debate also took into account the conclusions of the recent European Council on 25-26 June and the euro summit on 7 July.
