Thank you for the invitation and opportunity to be here.  And thank you Chairman Doty for your continuing strong leadership of the PCAOB and Steve Harris for your chairmanship of the Investor Advisory Group (IAG).  Thank you to Lewis Ferguson, Jay Hanson and Jeanette Franzel for your hard and productive work on the Board, and the entire PCAOB staff for your dedication and service to raising audit quality.  And thank you to the members of the IAG for all that you do for the same cause.  Having been fortunate to have attended your annual meeting in past years, I am always impressed by the thoughtful dialogue that takes place here.  The behind the scenes effort from each member in preparation for this meeting is always evident as well.

Report On Financial Structures Details Structural Changes In The Euro Area Financial Sector

• Consolidation in the banking sector continued in 2015
• Median CET 1 ratio increased to 14.6% from 14% in 2014 and profitability of the euro area banking sector improved
• In 2015 the median NPL ratio of banks, although still elevated, declined for the first time since 2008
• The banking system increased its reliance on deposit funding and became less dependent on wholesale and central bank funding
• Insurance companies and pension funds are starting to adjust structurally to the low-yield environment
• The non-bank financial sector (including insurance corporations and pension funds, other financial intermediaries and money market funds) has continued to expand over the past year

Saudi Arabia Debuts Its First Bonds Through Irish Stock Exchange-Listed GMTN Programme

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has listed bonds for the first time through a Global Medium Term Note Programme (GMTN) debuted on the Main Securities Market (MSM) of the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE).

SEC: Investment Adviser Fraudulently Overbilled Clients, Stole Assets For Personal Expenses

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged a Los-Angeles based investment advisory firm and its owner with fraudulently overbilling clients and stealing assets from their trusts to pay such personal expenses as his home mortgage, overseas trips, and leases on two Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

GPW Reduces Transaction Fees And Information Service Fees For Exchange Members

• GPW reduces Exchange Members fees for transactions in shares and information services on the GPW Main Market and the NewConnect Alternative Trading System as of 1 November 2016
  
• The fixed fee on an order will be reduced from PLN 0.20 to PLN 0.15 
  
• The monthly fee for displaying the best bid/ask prices for retail investors will be reduced by 25 percent
