Securities Commission Malaysia: Ex-CEO Of APL Industries Bhd And Ex-Remisier Fined And Jailed Five Years For Insider Trading

The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today convicted former CEO of APL Industries Bhd (APLI), Stanley Thai Kim Sim, and former remisier Tiong Kiong Choon for insider trading offences. Thai was sentenced to a five-year jail term and a RM5 million fine, while Tiong was sentenced to five years jail and a RM10 million fine.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) today issued a circular highlighting observations from their recent joint thematic reviews on the potential conflicts of interest arising from the sale of in-house products by registered institutions and licensed corporations within a single financial group. The reviews mainly focused on internal controls and compliance.

2017 CDB Financial Bonds Successfully Issued In Shenzhen Stock Exchange

On November 23, 2017, China Development Bank (hereinafter as “CDB”) successfully offered CNY3.25 trillion of the third tranche of 2017 financial bonds (hereinafter as “CDB 1703”) via Shenzhen Stock Exchange (hereinafter as “SZSE”), with a subscription rate of 2.19 and a winning income rate of 3.99%, marking the end of the CNY80 trillion financial bond offering by CDB in stock exchanges in 2017.

B3 Announces The 13th ISE – Corporate Sustainability Index Portfolio

B3 announced today the release of the thirteenth Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE) portfolio, effective from January 8, 2018 to January 4, 2019. The new portfolio, whose technical partner since its inception is the Sustainability Research Center at Fundação Getulio Vargas (GVces), comprises 33 stocks of 30 companies. The companies are drawn from 12 industry sectors and together account for a market capitalization of BRL1.28 trillion, or 41.47% of the combined figure for all the companies traded on B3, based on the November 21, 2017 closing.
