It is a pleasure to be here with you at the American Bar Association banking law committee annual meeting. Thank you to Meg Tahyar, my longtime friend and colleague, for inviting me to speak today. These are still the early days of my tenure at the Federal Reserve--last weekend marked my first three months as the first Vice Chairman for Supervision. In those three months, people have had a lot of questions for me, but the most frequently asked question has been: What's next? Today I hope to give you some insights into how I am approaching the work of evaluating and improving the post-crisis regulatory regime and to outline some specific areas that are emerging as areas of focus early in my tenure. Some of those areas are closer to being ready for action, while others are topics that I believe are important and would benefit from more attention and discussion. My hope is that you will come away from our time together with a better sense of my preliminary thinking for charting a course forward on financial regulation.

EBA Updates List Of Credit Institutions Subject To An LCR Inflow Cap Derogation

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today an updated list of credit institutions exempted from or subject to a higher cap on inflows in the calculation of the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) in accordance with the provisions laid down in the LCR Delegated Act. Three new institutions have been added to the previous list published in May 2017.

Judgement From The Swedish Patent And Market Court - Nasdaq Dismissed Of All Allegations - The Court Establishes That Nasdaq´S Actions Should Be Considered As Part Of Normal Competitive Behavior And Not To Constitute An Abuse Of A Dominant Position

The Swedish Patent and Market Court has in a judgement dated January 15, 2018 dismissed all allegations towards Nasdaq of having abused a dominant position in October 2010. The Swedish Competition Authority had claimed that Nasdaq foreclosed the competitor Burgundy from the market by preventing Burgundy from renting space in the datacenter where Nasdaq´s trading engine was located.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on January 18, 2018, filed a federal civil enforcement action in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York against Defendants Patrick K. McDonnell, of Staten Island, New York, and CabbageTech, Corp. d/b/a Coin Drop Markets (CDM), a New York corporation, charging them with fraud and misappropriation in connection with purchases and trading of Bitcoin and Litecoin.
