  • Tadawul: An Announcement Of Publishing The Amended Draft Of The Instructions On Real Estate Investment Traded Funds For Public Consultation

    In continuation to the Capital Market Authority's efforts to develop the Capital Market, protect investors, maintain a stable Capital Market environment and in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, and based on the Capital Market Law issued pursuant to the Royal Decree No. (M/30) Dated 02/06/1424 H, the CMA Board issued its Resolution to publish the amended draft of the instructions on Real Estate Investment Traded Funds (REITs) on the Authority’s website, to obtain the public, specialists and interested parties' views for a period of two weeks ending on 21/06/1439 H corresponding to 09/03/2018G. These proposed amendments aim to enhance the principals of investors protection, regulate the aspects that shall boost investments in these funds, to enable specialists, and set out the rules that will limit the risks related to investing in real estate investment traded funds.

    According to ETFGI’s January 2018 Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) ETF and ETP industry insights report, a monthly report included in an annual paid-for research subscription service, assets invested in ETFs and ETPs listed in Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) reached a record high of US$184 billion at the end of January 2018, shattering the previous record of US$170 billion set at the end of 2017.     In continuation to the Capital Market Authority's efforts to develop the capital market, provide new financial instruments in the local market and diversify the investment opportunities in it, and seeking to make the capital market environment more stable, and in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, and based on the Capital Market Law issued pursuant to the Royal Decree No. (M/30) Dated 02/06/1424 H, the CMA Board issued its Resolution to publish the draft of the instructions on Closed-Ended Investment Traded Funds on the Authority’s website, to obtain the public, specialists and interested parties' views for a period of 2 weeks ending on 21/06/1439H corresponding to 09/03/2018G. These proposed amendments aim is to regulate the offering, registration, approving and listing of the Closed-Ended Investment Traded Fund units. In addition to its management, operation, and supervision over its relevant activities in the kingdom.. 

  • Hong Kong's Securities And Futures Commission: Court Orders Titan’s Former Senior Executive And His Mother To Make Payments To Investors Over Insider Dealing In Titan Shares

    The Court of First Instance has ordered a former senior executive of an affiliate of Titan Petrochemical Group Limited (Titan), Mr Augustine Cheong Kai Tjieh and his mother, Ms Gan Ser Soon to pay investors after the Market Misconduct Tribunal (MMT) earlier found the pair engaged in insider dealing in the shares of Titan in 2012.
