CFTC Chairman Tarbert Announces Key Office Appointments - Jaime Klima To Serve As Chief Of Staff And Chief Operating Officer Of The CFTC

U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Heath P. Tarbert announced the following appointments to key positions in his Office:

• Jaime L. Klima will serve as Chief of Staff and Chief Operating Officer
• N. Charles “Charlie” Thornton III will serve as Counselor to the Chairman
• Thomas J. Benison will serve as Chief Negotiator for International  Agreements
• Matthew A. Daigler will serve as Senior Counsel to the Chairman
• Daniel J. Grimm will serve as Senior Counsel to the Chairman
• Andrew L. Ridenour will serve as Senior Counsel to the Chairman
• Chelsea E. Pizzola will serve as Deputy Chief of Staff and Counsel to the  Chairman
• Melissa A. Benedict will serve as Executive Assistant to the Chairman
• Anna F. Rosenberg will serve as Special Assistant to the Chairman and Legislative Specialist

ESMA Launches Call For Evidence On Certain Investor Protection Topics In The Context Of The Reports To Be Submitted By The EC Under Article 90 Of MiFID II

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published today a call for evidence on certain investor protection topics included in the EC mandate to ESMA on the reports to be submitted by the EC under Article 90 of MiFID II.

EGX Meets ESTA Board To Discuss Capital Market Developments

Mohamed Farid Saleh, EGX Chairman, held a meeting with The Egyptian Society of Technical Analysts (ESTA) Board.  This came after the distribution of certificates ceremony for the graduating batch of CETA diploma (equivalent to CFTe certification).  This comes as part of EGX’s efforts to communicate with market participants to raise the efficiency of the Egyptian capital market. 

ETFGI Reports Assets Invested In The US ETFs And ETPs Industry Reached A New High Of US$3.96 Trillion At The End Of June 2019

Assets invested in the US ETF/ETP industry have increased by 6.4%, from US$3.72 trillion at the end of May, to a new high of US$3.96 trillion at the end of June, according to ETFGI's June 2019 US ETF and ETP industry landscape insights report, an annual paid-for research subscription service. Singapore And Kenya Establish Cooperation On Developing Digital Infrastructure At Inaugural Afro-Asia FinTech Festival

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) have inked a FinTech Cooperation Agreement to support digital infrastructure development in Kenya. The two central banks will collaborate to develop basic digital infrastructure services for Kenya, including identity, data and Know-Your-Customer utility, based on a set of common standards. The cooperation was sealed at the inaugural Afro-Asia FinTech Festival in Nairobi, Kenya, which drew close to 2,000 participants from all over the world.
