The mid-September short interest represents 3.06 days compared with 3.38 days for the prior reporting period.

Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Commissioner Caroline D. Pham today released the following statement on the CFTC’s filing of four administrative complaints for enforcement actions before a CFTC temporary hearing officer:
“It is unbelievable that in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Jarkesy opinion and the heightened scrutiny of agency administrative proceedings, the Commission is doubling down on bringing enforcement actions before a hearing officer—not even an Administrative Law Judge."

Each of the four “Unregistered Entity Sweep” matters before the Commodity Futures Trading Commission[1] today seeks a cease-and-desist order and uses the Commission's administrative process to avoid bringing these charges in the federal courts. I respectfully dissent from the Commission’s use of administrative proceedings to bring an unregistered futures commission merchant (FCM) charge without identifying any relevant facts to support that charge.

US Office Of The Comptroller Of The Currency Reports Second Quarter 2024 Bank Trading Revenue

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) reported cumulative trading revenue of U.S. commercial banks and savings associations of $15.8 billion in the second quarter of 2024. The second quarter trading revenue was $218 million, or 1.4 percent, more than in the previous quarter and $2.2 billion, or 16.0 percent, more than a year earlier.
