After the successful launch of tracker certificates on Bitcoin, Ether, Ripple and Litecoin, Vontobel initiated the next step of innovation and listed Mini Futures on the crypto currencies Bitcoin and Ether. The Mini Futures enable investors to participate with leverage from positive and negative performances of the underlying instrument. Especially traders are looking for liquid instruments in order to trade volatile underlyings. Vontobel was mainly driven by the huge volume in crypto currencies as well as a lot of customer demand for Mini Futures on crypto currencies.

• In June 2019, the average daily number of trades was 41% higher than the pcp. The average daily value traded onmarket of $5.5 billion was up 16% on the pcp. 
• Volatility (as measured by the average daily movement in the All Ordinaries Index) was 0.5% in June, flat on the previous month 0.5%. 
• Expected future volatility (as measured by the S&P/ASX 200 VIX) in June was an average of 13.7 (compared to 13.6 in May).

SEC Proposes To Align Margin Requirements For Security Futures With Requirements For Similar Financial Products

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced today that it has proposed to align the minimum margin required on security futures with other similar financial products.  The proposal—which, if the CFTC votes in favor of, would be a joint CFTC-SEC proposal—would set the minimum margin requirement for security futures at 15 percent of the current market value of each security future.
