Hong Kong Securities And Futures Commission Flags Asset Manager Misconduct In Managing Private Funds And Discretionary Accounts

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) today issued a circular flagging various deficiencies and substandard conduct identified during its supervision of licensed corporations engaged in managing private funds and discretionary accounts (referred to as asset managers in the circular). The severity of misconduct in many of these cases has seriously jeopardised investor interests, thereby undermining confidence in Hong Kong’s market integrity and status as an international asset management centre.

Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) continues to investigate and handle abnormal trading activities and violations for the purposes of performing front-line market supervision responsibilities, regulating futures trading activities, preventing and mitigating market risks and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of market participants. In September 2024, 36 cases of abnormal trading were investigated and handled.

Ten More Companies! Nearly Half Of The Shanghai Stock Exchange Companies Have Announced The "Corporate Value And Return Enhancement" Action Plan

On October 9, about 10 companies listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) submitted the "Corporate Value and Return Enhancement" Action Plan. Up to now, the number of the SSE companies that have launched an Action Plan has reached 1,085, accounting for 47% of the SSE companies, including 738 private enterprises and 347 central and state-owned enterprises, covering a market value of about RMB 32.69 trillion. The coverage rate of the SSE 180 Index companies is nearly 80%.

CFFEX: Notice On Issues Related To The Delivery Of Equity Index Futures And Options Contracts

Pursuant to the Trading Rules of China Financial Futures Exchange and relevant detailed implementation rules, the last trading day of a CSI 300 Index futures, SSE 50 Index futures, CSI 500 Index futures, CSI 300 Index options, CSI 1000 Index futures, CSI 1000 Index options, and SSE 50 Index options contract is the third Friday of the expiry month. Where the last trading day is a public holiday or trading of that contract is suspended on that day for extraordinary situations or other reasons, the last trading day shall be postponed to the following trading day. Accordingly, the last trading day of IF2410, IH2410, IC2410, IO2410(CSI 300 Index options contracts expiring in October 2024), IM2410,MO2410(CSI 1000 Index options contracts expiring in October 2024),and HO2410(SSE 50 Index options contracts expiring in October 2024) is October 18, 2024.

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has reprimanded and fined CSC Futures (HK) Limited (CSC) $4.95 million for failures in complying with anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) and other regulatory requirements between January 2017 and December 2018.

- India will be added to the FTSE Emerging Markets Government Bond Index (EMGBI) with inclusion starting in September 2025
- Price source change to Tradeweb FTSE Closing Prices for US Treasuries, European Government Bonds and UK Gilts in FTSE global fixed income indices
- Egypt will be removed from the FTSE Equity Country Classification Watch List for potential demotion from Secondary Emerging to Unclassified market status
- Greece will be added to the FTSE Equity Country Classification Watch List for possible reclassification from Advanced Emerging to Developed market status

FSB Americas Group Discusses Macroprudential Frameworks, Climate Risks, Digital Payments And Operational Resilience

The Financial Stability Board (FSB) Regional Consultative Group (RCG) for the Americas met on 7 and 8 October in Santiago. The meeting was hosted by the Central Bank of Chile and the Financial Market Commission. FSB Chair, Klaas Knot, joined RCG members for the meeting.
