  • First Cross-Border Settlement Repo Transaction In The Fixed Income Segment With Monte Titoli

    Following the recent incorporation of new international counterparties, on April 26, BME Clearing registered the first Repo transaction in Spanish debt requiring cross-border settlement with the Italian CSD Monte Titoli. The transaction was executed between a national and an international counterparty, via the Brokertec platform, which settled successfully.

    Broadridge Financial Solutions has appointed Anke Kneifel to the role of Channel Partner Manager, focusing on the EMEA region for the Fund Communication Solutions (FCS) business. Anke, based in Luxembourg, brings with her a wealth of experience having joined Broadridge from Kneip, where she worked for 16 years, most recently supporting large UK and Ireland-based asset managers with their data and regulatory reporting challenges. Anke will play a key role in expanding the Broadridge European data and document distribution service, leveraging her extensive knowledge of the European data vendor and regulatory landscape alongside a deep understanding of the challenges that asset managers face and the skillset to help address these challenges. Anke will report into Paul Poletti-Gadd, Chief Solutions Officer, Broadridge Fund Communication Solutions.

    The Financial Stability Board (FSB) Regional Consultative Group (RCG) for the Americas held a virtual meeting today to discuss global and regional macroeconomic and financial market vulnerabilities and their potential impact on the region. Members discussed possible financial stability implications from the COVID-19 pandemic, including the impact of a more asynchronous recovery across regions and capital flows on emerging market and developing economies (EMDEs).

  • U.S. Department Of The Treasury: Quarterly Refunding Statement Of Deputy Assistant Secretary For Federal Finance Brian Smith

    The U.S. Department of the Treasury is offering $126 billion of Treasury securities to refund approximately $47.7 billion of privately-held Treasury notes and bonds maturing on May 15, 2021.  This issuance will raise new cash of approximately $78.3 billion. 

  • Tradeweb Reports Volume Of $19.3 Trillion In April

    • Average daily volume (ADV) for the month was $896.8 billion (bn)1, an increase of 17.5 percent (%) year over year (YoY). Average daily trades for the month totaled 57,837.
    • In U.S. Credit, Tradeweb captured 21.7% of U.S. High Grade TRACE share and 8.9% of U.S. High Yield TRACE share, with fully electronic activity of 11.7% and 4.8%, respectively—all records for the platform. In addition, U.S. High Yield ADV was a record.
    • There is a marked change in client behavior from prior to the pandemic as participants integrate newer execution protocols and advanced trading technologies that allow for more efficient price discovery and enhanced automation into their trading workflows. For example, U.S. Treasury volumes saw year-over-year growth, despite Primary Dealer and TRACE data showing overall market volumes easing. Furthermore, Institutional swaps SEF market share grew over 500bp vs April 2020 according to ClarusFT data.
