    Yesterday, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen spoke with Qatari Minister of Finance H.E. Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.  Secretary Yellen congratulated Minister Al Kuwari on the 50th anniversary of U.S.-Qatar diplomatic relations and reiterated the importance of the U.S.-Qatar bilateral relationship, highlighting President Biden’s recent designation of Qatar as a major non-NATO ally.  Secretary Yellen also welcomed the continued partnership between the two countries in combatting terrorist financing in the region. The Secretary and Minister Al Kuwari also discussed opportunities for increased bilateral engagement on economic issues in the coming year, sustainable investment, and Qatar’s financial outlook.
