SEC Charges Crypto Asset Trading Platform Bittrex And Its Former CEO For Operating An Unregistered Exchange, Broker, And Clearing Agency - Bittrex Global GmbH Also Charged For Failing To Register As A National Securities Exchange

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged crypto asset trading platform Bittrex, Inc. and its co-founder and former CEO William Shihara for operating an unregistered national securities exchange, broker, and clearing agency. The SEC also charged Bittrex, Inc.’s foreign affiliate, Bittrex Global GmbH, for failing to register as a national securities exchange in connection with its operation of a single shared order book along with Bittrex.

CME Group To Expand Bitcoin And Ether Options Expiries On May 22

CME Group, the world's leading derivatives marketplace, today announced plans to expand its suite of cryptocurrency options across its standard- and micro-sized Bitcoin and Ether contracts beginning on May 22, pending regulatory review. With these new contracts, expiries will be available every day of the business week, Monday through Friday.

Harvest ETFs Launched An Income ETF Tracking The Solactive Travel & Leisure Index

Solactive is pleased to announce the launch of another ETF tracking the Solactive Travel & Leisure Index by Harvest ETFs. The Harvest Travel & Leisure Income ETF (TRVI) invests in the components of the Solactive Travel & Leisure index while writing call options on up to 33% of the portfolio securities to enhance income. This new ETF complements the Harvest Travel & Leisure Index ETF (TRVL), which directly tracks the Solactive Travel & Leisure Index.

In his speech, Jon Cunliffe looks at four areas where the tokenisation of money is now being explored. The first is stablecoins used for payments, the second is the tokenisation of commercial bank deposits, the third is the next stage of the Bank of England’s work on issuing a Digital Pound and the last is the Bank’s work to ensure to ensure these new forms of money are robust and uniform.
