    Canola futures witnessed record-breaking levels during the month of February as pit trade volume exceeded the previous monthly volume record by 31.0%, reaching 273,404 contracts. Open interest levels in canola futures reached 77,664 contracts on February 13, 2001, surpassing the previous record of 77,405 contracts established on October 15, 1999, and compared to 44,294 contracts at the start of the 2000/01crop year.     The New York Board of Trade (NYBOT®)announced today a new record for the Russell futures open interest of 8,732 contracts, set on March 7, 2001. The new record passes the previous Russell futures open interest of 8,695 contracts, established on September 15, 1999. Additionally, the total open interest for the Russell futures and options contracts on March 7, 2001 was 10,709 contracts.
