  • Eurex Posts Third-Best Monthly Total To Date – 41.9 Million Contracts Traded - Record Volumes In

    Eurex, the international derivatives market, posted its third-highest volume on a monthly basis in September with 41.9 million contracts traded. This is an increase of 17 percent over the number traded in September 1999. Some 344 million contracts have already been traded during the first three quarters of the current year, about one-fourth more than the total for the same period of last year.

    Corus Bankshares, Inc. (Nasdaq: CORS), of Chicago, Illinois, will become a component of the Nasdaq Financial-100 Index(r), effective at the beginning of trading Monday, October 9, 2000. Corus Bankshares, Inc., will replace Keystone Financial, Inc. (Nasdaq: KSTN), which is being acquired.

    Responding to customer demands for more trading opportunities in the Asian time zone, the Chicago Board of Trade and Eurex today announced the expansion of trading hours for the electronic trading platform a/c/e, alliance/cbot/eurex. Market users can begin trading CBOT products on the new schedule on October 15, 2000.

    The month of September brought several new records to the Kansas City Board of Trade wheat futures and options contracts. At the conclusion of trade on Friday, Sept. 29, open interest in KCBT wheat futures stood at 85,713 contracts, 372 contracts more than the previous record of 85,341 contracts set on July 30, 1999.
