Leaders from the Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange suggested to Congress today a unified and comprehensive approach for regulatory reform that will allow U.S. futures exchanges to compete in modern global markets. CBOT/MIDAM Memorial Day Holiday Trading Schedule

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) and the MidAmerica Commodity Exchange (MidAm) have established the following trading schedules in observance of the Memorial Day holiday: Friday, May 28 CBOT Financial, Electricity, and Catastrophe Insurance contracts will close at 13:00. Libra Consortium Bid to Provide New UK Electricity Trading Arrangements

Euro Futures to Be Traded On The Warsaw Stock Exchange

New futures contracts based on EURO exchange rate will start trading on the Warsaw Stock Exchange on May 31, 1999. Five contract series will be concurrently available for trading, with expiry dates in the nearest three calendar months and two subsequent months from the March quarterly cycle. The contract size is EURO 10,000.

Deutsche Börse Lists 100th Company on Neuer Markt - Up to 30 more listings expected in June alone

On Monday, May 17, Deutsche Börse admitted artnet.com AG, the 100th firm for trading in its Neuer Markt segment. Neuer Markt has had 39 new listings since the beginning of the year, almost three times as many as in the same period of last year. The total number of new listings in 1998 was 44. There has been a steady flow of interest on the part of issuers. Deutsche Börse is expecting as many as 30 more companies to list on the Neuer Markt by the end of June. NYMEX Pleased with First Day Aluminum Futures Volume

The New York Mercantile Exchange announced the estimated first day volume for its new COMEX Division aluminum futures contract as 1,750 contracts. Exchange President R. MATIF to launch new Rapeseed Option

Matif SA will open trading in options on its rapeseed future on May 28. The decision to launch the new contract reflects the success of the rapeseed futures, with trading up 40% in 1998 following three years of steady growth. In the first quarter of this year, it was double that in the same period of 1998. Market expansion is continuing with nearly 550 contracts traded on average each day and peaks of over 1,700 on some days.
