Clearing And Settlement: First Meeting Of European Commission Expert Group On Fiscal Compliance Issues

The European Commission’s Clearing and Settlement Fiscal Compliance (“FISCO”) expert group is holding its first meeting in Brussels on 15 April 2005. The group, chaired by the Commission, will advise on the removal of fiscal compliance barriers to the clearing and settlement of cross-border securities transactions within the EU. It is composed of 15 high-level experts, mainly from private bodies.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced today that reported total trading volume at CBOE on Friday, April 15th was 4,080,007 contracts, setting a new volume record at CBOE for the busiest single trading day in the Exchange's 32 year history and the first time that trading volume topped four million contracts in a single day. Archipelago Holdings Releases March 2005 Transaction Volume Data

Archipelago Holdings, Inc. (PCX: AX) today announced its March 2005 market transaction volume data for the Archipelago Exchange (ArcaEx®). Specifically, in NYSE- listed equity securities, ArcaEx's total trading market share was 2.7% in March 2005, up from 1.6% in March 2004 and up from 2.3% in February 2005. UK’s Financial Services Authority And Teather & Greenwood Limited Announce Details Of Split Capital Investment Trust Settlement

The FSA has been conducting an investigation into the activities of certain fund managers and brokers within the split capital investment trust ("splits") sector between September 2000 and February 2002. On 24 December 2004, the FSA announced that it had reached agreement with 18 firms to resolve this investigation. The FSA has now reached agreement with Teather & Greenwood Limited, a broker that was not a party to the 24 December agreement.

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that it will begin trading options on iShares Lehman US Treasury Exchange Traded Funds (TLT, IEF, SHY, AGG and TIP) on Friday, April 15. Options on TLT, IEF, and SHY, AGG and TIP will trade on PHLX XL, the Exchange’s electronic trading platform, along with 1,650 other equity options.
