Tokyo Stock Exchange: In Response To Today’s Newspaper Report Concerning Free-Float Adjusted Indices

In response to an article that appeared in a newspaper today, Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) denied the fact that it has made any announcements regarding the free-float adjustment of TOPIX. TSE also announced that it is in the final stages of preparations to publish public comment results. These results will be released in July 2004 (the previous announcement date was late June 2004).

NASD today announced that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved rule amendments that further define several key arbitration rules, in an effort to provide additional assurance that individuals with ties to the securities industry may not serve as public arbitrators.

DBS Thai Danu Bank (EMDB Code 578204.1/SEDOL 6887928) and Industrial Finance Corp of Thailand (IFCT) (EMDB Code 578260.1/SEDOL 6458829), both existing S&P/IFCI index constituents, are being merged with Thai Military Bank (EMDB Code 578503.1/SEDOL 6887876), an S&P/IFCG index constituent. As a result of the merger, shareholders of DBS Thai Danu Bank will receive 0.9 shares of Thai Military Bank for every share held and shareholders of IFCT will receive 1.1240 shares of Thai Militay Bank for every
