LME To Stage Inaugural Plastics Seminar On 24 May 2005

The London Metal Exchange (LME) has today confirmed that it will stage an inaugural plastics industry seminar, ‘A Perspective on Plastics’, on 24 May 2005 in London. The event will mark the LME launch of futures contracts for polypropylene (PP) and linear low density polyethylene (LL) on 27 May 2005.

Kansas City Board Of Trade Starts Year With 26.3 Percent Gain Over December Volume

Trading volume at the Kansas City Board of Trade started out the year with healthy volume levels. The exchange traded 26.3 percent more during the month of January than in December 2004, while the wheat futures contract posted a 30 percent gain compared to the same time period.

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, marked a new record-volume month in January with average daily volume for the month of more than 3.7 million contracts per day, up 30 percent from the same period a year ago. Average daily volume on its CME® Globex® electronic trading platform was nearly 2.6 million contracts, a 109 percent increase from January 2004 average daily volume of 1.2 million.
