Standard & Poor's Indices Show Strengthening Of Global Equity Slowdown - April Puts A Damper On Most Market Categories

According to Standard & Poor's, a leading provider of independent investment research, indices, and ratings, the S&P/Citigroup Broad Market Index (BMI) Global Composite [1] declined 2.63% in April, as the prospect of higher interest rates pushed many stock markets lower. This continues last month's decline for the BMI Global Composite, which measures over 7,500 stocks across 52 countries covering 97% of global market capitalization.

S&P Emerging Markets Index Calculation Schedule

Standard & Poor's will not be calculating index values for the S&P/IFCI and S&P/IFCG Emerging Market Indices on May 31, 2004. Standard & Poor’s has been notified that WM spot exchange rates will not be published on this day. Forex markets will be closed in New York, London and Frankfurt. Index values will be calculated on all other business days.
