Securities Industry Association Applauds New SEC Rules On Breakpoint Disclosures, Code Of Ethics For Investment Advisers

The Securities Industry Association today welcomed the Securities and Exchange Commission’s adoption of a rule that will significantly clarify costs for mutual-fund investors by requiring that information on breakpoint discounts be clearly detailed in prospectuses. SIA also applauded the commission’s approval of a second rule requiring investment advisers to adopt a code of ethics.

The Securities and Exchange Commission today voted to adopt form amendments regarding disclosure requirements for mutual funds concerning discounts on front-end sales loads and a new rule as well as amendments to rules and forms dealing with investment adviser codes of ethics, The Commission also voted to propose for comment a new rule regarding transfer agent operations.

The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (“NASDAQ®”; OTCBB: NDAQ) today announced the re-election of Class 1 directors H. Furlong Baldwin, Robert Greifeld, Thomas M. Joyce and Arvind Sodhani and the election of Senator Fred D. Thompson. The Board also appointed Jeffrey N. Edwards and Deborah L. Wince-Smith. At its meeting today the Board of Oslo Børs resolved to admit Aker Yards ASA, Medi-Stim ASA and AXXESSIT ASA to listing on Oslo Børs. Aker Yards will be listed on the Main List, while the other two companies will be admitted to the SMB List.

Matching Halted On ICEX Equity Markets And ICEX Fixed-Income Markets

Due to disruptions in the trading system matching has been halted on the ICEX Equity markets and ICEX Fixed-income markets. Trade reporting is still possible but information about reported trades is not being disseminated in the trading system. ICEX will announce in the news system when matching will start again.

The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today the selection of Jeannette L. Lewis as Associate Regional Director for Examinations in the Commission's Midwest Regional Office (MRO). Ms. Lewis began her employment with the MRO in 1988 as a staff attorney in the MRO's Enforcement group. CME To Launch FX Contracts On Polish Zloty, Hungarian Forint, Czech Koruna - Futures, Options Contracts On Three Eastern European Currencies vs. U.S. Dollar, Euro FX Planned

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME), the largest U.S. futures exchange, today announced that it will list six new foreign exchange (FX) futures contracts on the Polish zloty, Hungarian forint and Czech koruna as measured against both the U.S. dollar and the euro. CME also will launch options on each of the six new futures contracts.
