  • TSX Trading Value Tops $1 Trillion For First Time Ever

    Today trading on Toronto Stock Exchange surpassed $1 trillion* for the year – the first time trading has ever reached that level. The year’s trading value record fell on November 21st when the previous year record of $944.2 billion (set in 2000) was eclipsed. TSX trading value so far in 2005 is running approximately 29 percent ahead of last year.

    The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Board approved the extension of listing and trading fees on the Bond Electronic Exchange (BEX) to end-December 2006 in order to boost both the demand and supply sides of the Thai bond market.

    Today, the shares of Dufry Ltd, a Swiss travel retailer, were traded in the main market of the SWX Swiss Exchange for the first time. Yesterday, i.e. on Monday, an issue price of CHF 80 was determined. The opening price on the SWX also was CHF 80. This corresponds to a market capitalisation of CHF 1’125 million. Dufry belongs not only to the SPI®, but also to the SPI EXTRA®.

  • Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

    Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Tuesday, December 6, 2005: Petroflow Energy Ltd. (TSXVN:PFW) will trade under the new ticker symbol "PEF" and under the new CUSIP number 715918 30 6. The shares of the company will be consolidated on a 1-for-10 basis.

    Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes to the S&P 500, S&P MidCap 400, SmallCap 600 and S&P REIT Composite indices: E.W. Scripps Co. (NYSE:SSP) will replace Georgia-Pacific Corp. (NYSE:GP) in the S&P 500 after the close of trading on Thursday, December 15.
