ADX And Citi Sign Custody Agreement - Agreement Will Encourage And Facilitate Further International Investment In Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and Citi have signed a custody agreement whereby Citi will provide custody of ADX-listed shares to institutional investor clients. This will encourage and facilitate further international investment in Abu Dhabi which will lead to a broadening of the Exchange’s investor base.

Alpha Group Confirms Successful Launch Of Alternative Trading System - Day 2 Establishes Alpha ATS As A Leading Canadian Market Place

Alpha Group announced today that on Friday November 7, 2008 it successfully launched its alternative trading system (ATS) offering trading and market data services for 10 Canadian securities. Alpha Group noted that approximately 30 dealers were connected to the ATS and that these dealers traded 411,698 shares, representing about 10% of the overall volume traded in those securities across transparent marketplaces in Canada.

The Federal Reserve Board on Monday announced its approval of the applications and notices under sections 3 and 4 of the Bank Holding Company Act by American Express Company and American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc., both of New York, New York, to become bank holding companies on conversion of American Express Centurion Bank, Salt Lake City, Utah, to a bank, and to retain certain nonbanking subsidiaries, including American Express Bank, FSB, Salt Lake City, Utah.

BM&FBOVESPA Releases Monthly Market Performance For October

In October, the total number of trades in BM&FBOVESPA’s equities and fixed income markets reached 7.76 million, with a financial volume of BRL122.54 billion, compared to 6.46 million trades and a financial volume of BRL120.96 billion in September. The number of individual accounts in the stock markets was the highlight in October, reaching a total of 542,142 accounts compared to 527,692 in the previous month, even exceeding the 529,089 accounts in August.
