  • Vienna Stock Exchange Acquires 92.4% Stake In Prague Stock Exchange

    The Vienna Stock Exchange today announces that it has acquired a 92.4% stake in the Prague Stock Exchange and – subject to the approval of the relevant authorities – consequently becomes the new majority shareholder. “We view ourselves as a long-term investor driven by the spirit of partnership and will be agreeing the specifics of this new partnership together with the management of the Prague Stock Exchange in the coming weeks and months,” stated Michael Buhl, CEO of the Vienna Stock Excha

  • New Record For Number Of Trades Across London Stock Exchange Group - Fall In Index Levels Impacts Value Traded

    The total number of trades on the equity order books of London Stock Exchange Group reached a record 29.6 million in October, up 55 per cent compared with October 2007. Year on year falls of 35 and 46 per cent in the average value of the FTSE 100 and MIB indices impacted the value traded on the Group’s equity order books, which was down 18 per cent to £246.1 billion (€312.8 billion).

  • HKEx: Changes Of Designated Securities For Short Selling

    The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announces that with effect from 14 November 2008(Friday), 6 additional securities will be eligible for short selling and 144 existing designated securities will be removed from the list.  The total number of designated securities for short selling will be 364 after the revision.

    When the paperless system takes effect on January 5, 2009, several listed companies plan to conduct stock splits and adopt a share unit system in order to organize odd lots into normal trading units (an amount of a security less than the one unit of trading for that particular security) that will not be included in the transfer system, These issues will be suspended from trading from December 25, 2008 to December 30, 2008.
