SEC Staff Provide Information To Assist Newly-Registered Investment Advisers
Securities and Exchange Commission staff announced that they will send all newly registered advisers a "welcome letter," along with a plain English summary of the key provisions of the Investment Advisers Act to help them understand their compliance responsibilities. The goal is to help educate newly registered advisers about their compliance obligations that promote investor protection.

Securities And Exchange Commission: Former MDS Inc. IT Specialist And Spouse Made More Than $1 Million From Stolen Information About MDS's Impending Merger With Molecular Devices
The Securities and Exchange Commission today filed insider trading charges against a former MDS Inc. employee who allegedly stole confidential information about MDS's impending tender offer for the shares of Molecular Devices Corp. (Molecular) and, along with his wife, used that information to trade in Molecular securities ahead of the merger's public announcement. The Ontario Securities Commission also brought its own separate enforcement action today to address this conduct.

NYSE Regulation Fines Citigroup Global Markets For Improper Market Timing Of Mutual Funds By Brokers - Payment Of $50 Million Includes $40 Million In Customer Compensation
NYSE Regulation, Inc. announced today it has censured and fined the Smith Barney Division of Citigroup Global Markets Inc. (“CGMI”) of New York, New York, a member firm, for failing to supervise trading of mutual fund shares and variable annuity mutual fund sub-accounts, failing to prevent violative market timing by its brokers, and failing to maintain adequate books and records.

First Warsaw Stock Exchange IPO Partner From Belarus
Minsk-based CJSC Investment Company UNITER signed, on 19 July 2007, a co-operation agreement with the Warsaw Stock Exchange under the WSE IPO Partner Programme aimed to attract foreign companies to the Warsaw exchange. UNITER is the first WSE IPO Partner from Belarus and the 9th overall.
