Eurex: Trading Volumes Up By 22 Percent In April - 185 Million Contracts Compared To 151 Million In April 2007 - Daily Average Turnover Of 8.4 Million Contracts

Eurex, the international derivatives exchange, gained an 22 percent increase in turnover volume compared year-on-year to 185 million contracts (April 2007: 151 million contracts). The daily average turnover stood at 8.4 million contracts (April 2007: 8 million contracts). Open interest saw a rise of 13 percent to 141 million contracts per the end of March 2008.

Deutsche Börse: Xetra Trades Up By 34 Percent In April - Total Volume Of €192 Billion Traded On All Stock Exchanges In Germany

In April the number of trades executed on Xetra was up by 34.7 percent reaching more than 16 million transactions – compared to April 2007 with 12 million trades. Orderbook turnover on Xetra slightly decreased by 1.5 percent year-on-year to €166.5 billion (April 2007: €169.1 billion). On Xetra and the Frankfurt floor €163 billion were turned over in German equities and €8.1 billion in foreign shares. Today, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced the members of its recently-formed Energy Markets Advisory Committee. CFTC Acting Chairman Walter L. Lukken is the Chairman of the EMAC. It is designed to provide a public forum to examine emerging issues related to the energy markets and the CFTC’s role in these markets under the Commodity Exchange Act.

Record attendance at this year's training program totaled 192 senior securities officials from 76 foreign jurisdictions, including four jurisdictions attending the Institute for the first time.
