UK's Financial Services Authority Proposes Enhanced Transparency Requirements On Short Selling For All Stocks
In a discussion paper (DP) issued today, the Financial Services Authority (FSA) has proposed a general short selling disclosure requirement for all UK listed stocks. The proposals follow a comprehensive review of short selling undertaken since the FSA introduced its temporary ban in September 2008.

18.5 Million Electronic Equity Trades Across London Stock Exchange Group Order Books During January
total of 18.5 million equity trades were carried out across the electronic order books of the London Stock Exchange during January 2009, with a combined value of £129.8 billion (€146.7 billion). The average daily number of trades was 881,609; this was 14 per cent ahead of the average 772,246 trades per day recorded in December 2008, but down by 30 per cent on January 2008, an extremely strong comparator. CFTC Obtains Judgment Against Albert E. Parish And Parish Economics LLC For Operating A Commodity Pool Scam In CFTC Anti-Fraud Action - Parish Currently Serving A Sentence Of More Than 24 Years In Federal Prison For Related Criminal Violations
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today that the Honorable David C. Norton of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina entered an order settling charges alleging that Albert E. Parish and Parish Economics LLC, both of Charleston, South Carolina, lied to customers and misappropriated millions of dollars in customer funds (see CFTC Press Release 5320-07, April 19, 2007).
