CBOE Holdings Reports May 2012 Trading Volume - May Average Daily Volume Up 18% From Year Ago, Up 9% From April 2012 - CBOE Futures Exchange And VIX Index Futures Post Busiest Month Ever

CBOE Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CBOE) today reported that May trading volume for options on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and C2 Options Exchange (C2), combined, totaled 109.2 million contracts. May average daily volume (ADV) was just under five million contracts, an 18-percent increase from May 2011 ADV of 4.2 million contracts and a nine-percent increase from April 2012 ADV of 4.5 million contracts.

The CBOE Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE) today announced that May 2012 was the most-active trading month in CFE history as total volume exceeded two million contracts for the first time ever. New records were established in total monthly volume and monthly average daily volume (ADV) both exchange-wide and for futures on the CBOE Volatility Index (the VIX Index).

Amendments To The Definitions And Exclusion Of Liability Clauses In Contract Specifications For Certain GreenX European Union Allowance And Certified Emission Reduction Futures Contracts

Pending all relevant regulatory review periods, effective June 18, 2012, GreenX will amend language in the Definitions and Exclusion of Liability clauses for certain European Union Allowance and Certified Emission Reduction Futures Contracts. These amendments are being made to conform to the recent European Union Registry infrastructure changes. The changes are applicable to the GreenX European Union Allowance and Certified Emission Reduction Futures contracts only.

CFTC Files A General Creditor Claim In The Liquidation Of MF Global

On June 1, 2012, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (Commission) filed a general creditor claim in the liquidation of MF Global, Inc., No. 11-02790 (Bankr. S.D.N.Y.). The Commission took this action in relation to the Division of Enforcement’s ongoing investigation related to the failure of MF Global, Inc. If that investigation results in an enforcement action against MF Global, Inc., the Commission could pursue a restitution award for the benefit of commodity customers, which in turn could be the basis for a Commission claim as a general creditor against the MF Global, Inc. estate. The Commission’s claim as a general creditor would not have priority over customer claims. It has been filed solely to preserve all possible options for recovering funds for the benefit of commodity customers.

SIFMA today released the following statement from Randy Snook, executive vice president, in response to the approval by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of two proposals that seek to address extraordinary volatility in individual stocks and the broader stock markets. These proposals -- for updated market-wide circuit breakers and the establishment of a limit up-limit down mechanism that replaces the existing single stock circuit breakers -- were put forward by the national securities exchanges and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
