  • European Commission Extends Deadline For ESMA’s Equivalence Work Under EMIR

    The European Commission today, in a letter sent to ESMA, extended the deadlines for ESMA’s advice on the equivalence of third-countries under EMIR. The new deadlines for ESMA’s advice on the US and Japanese regimes are now due on 1 September 2013, for other third-countries on 1 October 2013. The original deadline was 15 June 2013 for ESMA.

  • UK's Financial Conduct Authority: Ex-Mortgage Broker Pleads Guilty To 12 Criminal Offences

    In a case brought by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Michael Joseph James Lewis, in a plea and case management hearing at Maidstone Crown Court, pleaded guilty to ten counts of breaching the general prohibition under Section 19 of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, in that he continued to give mortgage advice to clients despite being prohibited by the FCA from doing so on 9 August 2011.

  • Performance Of Dairy Derivatives Segment Grew Further In Hsignificant Increase In Eurex’s Dairy Derivatives Trading Volume/ Eurex Exchange Reinforces Market Leadership In European Dairy Futures

    The international derivatives market Eurex Exchange has seen a significant increase in trading activities in its dairy derivatives segment since the beginning of the year. The total 2012 volume was recently exceeded; more than 980 contracts have been traded year-to-date (2012: 908 contracts). The contract volume traded in 2013 so far is equivalent to a nominal volume of around 4,900 tonnes of goods.

  • Nigerian Stock Exchange Weekly Report For The Week Ended June 14, 2013

    A turnover of 3.725 billion shares worth of N75.874 billion in 39,060 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of The Exchange in contrast to a total of 1.917 billion shares valued at N25.133 billion that exchanged hands last week in 32,368 deals. The Financial Services sector (measured by volume) led the activity chart with a turnover of 1.702 billion shares valued at N14.698 billion traded in 19,826 deals. The Financial Services sector represented 45.68%, 19.37% and 50.76% of the total traded volume, value and deals respectively.
