The Council of Experts Concerning the Japanese Version of the Stewardship Code (Chairman: Hiroyuki Kansaku, Professor of Graduate Schools for Law and Politics/Faculty of Law, The University of Tokyo) has now published the draft of “Japan’s Stewardship Code” and started to call for public comments in English.

Clearstream – the post-trade services provider of Deutsche Börse Group – will extend the range of securities eligible for settlement in the future pan-European settlement platform TARGET2-Securities (T2S) by leveraging the network of cross-border links to non T2S markets of its international central securities depository (ICSD). As such, Clearstream will make its ICSD-issued securities (i.e. Eurobonds) and also securities issued outside Europe available via T2S, which represents a significant expansion of scope compared to the original universe of the T2S project. Clearstream’s decision will therefore further contribute to the harmonisation of cross-border flows in Europe and beyond.

Markets In Financial Instruments (MiFID): Commissioner Michel Barnier Welcomes Agreement In Trilogue On Revised European Rules

I welcome the agreement in principle reached today by the European Parliament and the Council on updated rules for markets in financial instruments (MiFID II). These new rules will improve the way capital markets function to the benefit of the real economy. They are a key step towards establishing a safer, more open and more responsible financial system and restoring investor confidence in the wake of the financial crisis. The Commission would, however, have preferred a more ambitious implementation period.

European Parliament And Council Of Ministers: Deal To Regulate Financial Markets And Products And Curb High-Frequency Trading

Comprehensive rules to govern financial markets were agreed informally by negotiators for Parliament and the Council of Ministers on Tuesday. These rules are designed to close the loopholes in the existing legislation, ensuring that financial markets are safer as well as more efficient, investors are better protected, speculative commodity trading is curbed and high-frequency trading is regulated.
