• Alternative UCITS inflows in 3Q 2013: +3.2 Euro billion, Single managers; +93 Euro million, Fund of funds
• 109 Euro billion (end of September 2013) of total assets under management monitored, up from 103.7 Euro billion at end of June 2013;
• Long/short equity and Equity market neutral strategies are responsible for the growth of the sector: +2.3 Euro billion and +986 Euro millions of inflows respectively in 3Q 2013 (see chart 1).

Kevin W. Goodman Named Head Of SEC’s Broker-Dealer Examination Program

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Kevin W. Goodman has been named as the national associate director of the broker-dealer examination program in the Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE).  He will oversee a staff of approximately 300 lawyers, accountants, and examiners responsible for inspections of U.S.-registered broker-dealers.

Following the receipt of all regulatory approvals and subsequent completion of the cash and stock acquisition of NYSE Euronext (USA) by IntercontinentalExchange Inc. (USA) and in accordance with the terms of the merger, NYSE Euronext was deleted from the FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges index. IntercontinentalExchange will remain in the index.

U.S. And France Agree To Combat Offshore Tax Evasion - 10 Completed Agreements, Marks Significant Momentum In FATCA Implementation

The U.S. Department of the Treasury today announced that the United States has signed an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with France to implement the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA).  Enacted in 2010, FATCA aims to curtail offshore tax evasion by facilitating the exchange of tax information.  With today’s agreement, 10 FATCA IGAs have been signed to date.

FSB Publishes Global Shadow Banking Monitoring 2013

The Financial Stability Board (FSB) is publishing today its third annual Global Shadow Banking Monitoring Report. The report includes data from 25 jurisdictions and the euro area as a whole, bringing the coverage of the monitoring exercise to about 80% of global GDP and 90% of global financial system assets. For the first time the report also incorporates estimates from a hedge fund survey by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
