At the end of the settlement date of January 31, 2013, short interest in 2,139 NASDAQ Global MarketSM securities totaled 6,829,640,401 shares compared with 6,838,284,912 shares in 2,140 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of January 15, 2013. The end-of-January short interest represents 3.90 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.81 days for the prior reporting period.

CFTC Charges South Carolina Resident Robert Stanley Harrison With Commodity Pool Fraud - Federal Court Issues Emergency Order Freezing Assets And Protecting Books And Records
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that Judge G. Ross Anderson of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina entered an emergency Order freezing and preserving the remaining pool participant assets under the control of defendant Robert Stanley Harrison of Easley, S.C. The Order also prohibits Harrison from destroying books and records and grants the CFTC immediate access to those records.

Enterprise Data Management Council Appoints Dennis E. Wisnosky To Lead Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO) Standards Implementation - Former CTO Of Department Of Defense Business Mission Area To Direct New Suite Of Standards
The Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Council, a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to addressing the practical business strategies and technical implementation realities of enterprise data management, today announced it has appointed Dennis E. Wisnosky to lead the standards implementation process for the Council’s Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO) suite of standards. In this role, Wisnosky will provide technical strategy and operational guidance to help the Council finalize and implement FIBO standards. Wisnosky brings extensive experience with enterprise architecture, ontology development and semantic deployment and is poised to help the Council address the political and technical realities associated with the FIBO standard.

January 2013: Strong Start Into The New Year - The Statistical Monthly Report Contains The Latest Trade And Turnover Figures For SIX Swiss Exchange And Scoach Switzerland
In January 2013, the number of transactions on SIX Swiss Exchange and Scoach Switzerland reached a total of 2'947'832. This corresponds to an increase of 5.9% over the same period in the previous year. The strongest gain was recorded by the ETF segment, with +23.3% (86'324 trades), followed by Equities (incl. Funds, ETSFs + ETPs) with +6.2% (2'733'813trades). An even bigger rise of 52.0% could be observed in comparison with the previous month. Against December 2012, growth was most notable in the segments Equities (+59.8%) as well as Structured Products & Warrants (+50.4%).
