Hong Kong's Securities And Futures Commission: Market Manipulator Fined And Sentenced To Community Service

The Eastern Magistrates’ Court today sentenced Mr Wong Pok Wang to 180 hours of community service and fined him $16,320 for manipulating the indicative equilibrium price of derivative warrants and callable bull/bear contracts (CBBCs) during the Pre-opening Sessions.

Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad (635998-W) (Bursa Malaysia Securities) has publicly reprimanded, imposed a fine of RM500,000 and ordered to strike off Melvin Yap Han Khoon (MELVIN YAP) if he was still a Registered Person of Bursa Malaysia Securities, for engaging in manipulative dealing activities in the securities of three (3) counters, Bright Packaging Industry Bhd (BRIGHT), Asia Media Group Bhd (AMEDIA) and Cybertowers Bhd (CYBERT) (collectively referred to as the 3 Counters).

ETFGI’s Analysis Finds ETFs And ETPs Listed Globally Gathered A Record US$160.5 Billion In Net New Assets Through The End Of July 2014

ETFGI’s analysis finds ETFs and ETPs listed globally gathered US$33.8 Bn in net new assets in July, pushing YTD NNA to US$160.5 Bn, a new record level of NNA at this point in the year, outpacing the previous high of US$149.9 Bn set in 2013. Assets declined slightly (0.4%) from their record high of US$2.64 Tn in June to US$2.62 Tn at the end of July. The global ETF/ETP industry now has 5,410 ETFs/ETPs, with 10,477 listings, from 222 providers listed on 60 exchanges, according to preliminary data from ETFGI’s end July 2014 Global ETF and ETP industry insights report.

ETFGI’s Analysis Finds ETFs And ETPs Listed In Europe Gathered Record US$10.6 Billion In Net New Assets In July, And Record US$42.7 Billion YTD Through July 2014

ETFGI’s analysis finds ETFs and ETPs listed in Europe gathered a record level of US$10.6 Bn in net new assets in July, pushing YTD NNA to US$42.7 Bn, a new record level of NNA at this point in the year, outpacing the previous high of US$30.1 Bn set in 2011. Assets declined slightly (0.7%) from their record high of US$470 Bn in June to US$467 Bn at the end of July. The European ETF/ETP industry had 2,070 ETFs/ETPs, with 6,262 listings, from 50 providers listed on 26 exchanges, according to preliminary data from ETFGI’s end July 2014 Global ETF and ETP industry insights report.
