  • UK's Financial Conduct Authority: Temporary Restriction In Short Selling

    The Financial Conduct Authority (“FCA”) notifies that it extends the prohibition of short selling in the following instrument applied on 31 July 2014 under Article 23(2) of Regulation (EU) No 236/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 March 2012.  This follows a decision made by the Comissão do Mercado de Valores Mobiliários (CMVM).

  • The Options Industry Council Announces July Options Volume Increased 9 Percent

    The Options Industry Council (OIC) announced today that 355,432,350 total options contracts traded in July, up 9.48 percent compared to last July when 324,651,203 contracts exchanged hands. This marks the second busiest July on record behind July 2008.

    More rapid job creation, higher wages,and gains in household wealth have eased the financial strains on households as well as supported more favorable buying plans for vehicles and household durables. While consumers considered their current financial situation to now be in the best shape since the start of the Great Recession,those gains have not caused consumers to confidently expect a continuation of robust growth in the year ahead. Nonetheless, confidence is sufficiently high to expand consumption by an annual rate of 2.5% in 2014.
