HKEx: Changes Of Designated Securities For Short Selling

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), announces that with effect from 14 August 2015 (Friday), 76 additional securities will be eligible for short selling and 11 existing designated securities will be removed from the list.  The total number of designated securities for short selling will be 883 after the revision.

Dalian Commodity Exchange Marks New Development With “Warehouse Receipts Switch”

In December 2013, Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) launched the pilot program for switching warehouse receipts between intra-group factory warehouses for soybean meal futures. In July 2014, the number of groups selected to participate in this pilot was expanded from 2 to 9. Over the past year, the warehouse receipts switch system has facilitated participation in futures delivery by medium, small and micro-sized mid-stream and downstream enterprises along the industry chain, and further advanced the linkage between the futures and spot markets.

1. Purpose

The Japan Revitalization Strategy as revised in 2015 (Cabinet Decision, June 30, 2015) states that “we need to work actively to prevail and to promote the adoption of Japan’s Stewardship Code, established and released in February 2014 (“JSC”), and Japan’s Corporate Governance Code, which entered into force in June 2015 (“JCGC”), as ‘the two wheels of a cart’ such that the sustainable growth of companies will be promoted by both sides of investors and companies.
