Statement Of CFTC Chairman Timothy G. Massad On Cross Border Margin (Washington, DC)

Thank you all for calling in today. Before I begin, I want to let you know that I have CFTC staff members Carlene Kim and John Lawton joining me today on the call.
Today the Commission voted unanimously to issue a proposal on the cross-border application of our previously proposed rules on margin for uncleared swaps. I thank my fellow commissioners for their work and input on this proposal, and I also want to thank our staff for their hard work.

SEC Announces Cherry-Picking Charges Against Investment Manager - Case Arises From Enforcement Initiative Analyzing Large Volumes Of Investment Advisers’ Trade Allocation Data

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced fraud charges against a Wisconsin-based investment advisory firm and its owner accused of improperly allocating to his personal and business accounts certain options trades that appreciated in value during the course of a trading day while allocating to his clients other trades that depreciated in value.

CFTC Issues Proposed Rule On Cross-Border Margin

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (Commission) today voted unanimously to propose a rule that would apply the Commission’s margin requirements for uncleared swaps in the context of cross-border transactions (Proposed Rule). The Proposed Rule would apply to Commission-registered swap dealers and major swap participants that are not subject to the margin requirements of other prudential regulators, such as the Federal Reserve Board, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (collectively, covered swap entities). The comment period ends 60 days after the publication in the Federal Register.

Bank Of England: Stuck - Speech By Andy Haldane

Oliver Jeffers is an author and illustrator of children’s books. In Stuck, he tells the story of a boy whose kite becomes lodged in a tree. The boy makes vigorous attempts to dislodge the kite by throwing up objects, including a cat, a gorilla and an ocean-liner. (The story is fictional.) Yet the kite remains stuck.

SEC Charges KKR With Misallocating Broken Deal Expenses

ACER Recommends Adopting The NC On Emergency And Restoration And Launches The Market European Stakeholders Committee For Electricity

ACER publishes today its opinion and recommendation on the Network Code on Emergency and Restoration. ACER acknowledges that the Network Code is in line with the Framework Guidelines on Electricity System Operation, and its objectives, and therefore it recommends its adoption by the European Commission.
