Manuel Ardanza, New CEO Of The Bilbao Stock Exchange
The Board of Directors of BME has appointed the Vizcaya-born lawyer Manuel Ardanza as CEO and General Manager of the Bilbao Stock Exchange, replacing José Luis Damborenea, who has headed the exchange since 1991 and now steps down for retirement.

Federal Reserve Issues FOMC Statement
Information received since the Federal Open Market Committee met in March indicates that growth in economic activity has picked up recently, after having slowed sharply during the winter in part because of adverse weather conditions. Labor market indicators were mixed but on balance showed further improvement. The unemployment rate, however, remains elevated. Household spending appears to be rising more quickly. Business fixed investment edged down, while the recovery in the housing sector remained slow. Fiscal policy is restraining economic growth, although the extent of restraint is diminishing. Inflation has been running below the Committee's longer-run objective, but longer-term inflation expectations have remained stable.

MGEX April 2014 Top Volume Day In The Record Books
MGEX, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), reports yesterday’s trade volume placing in the record books. Total volume came in at 15,898 contracts traded, number 23 on the daily Exchange volume records. Total electronic volume came in at 14,843 contracts traded, number 12 on the daily electronic volume records.

EBA Launches Data Collection Exercise On CVA
The European Banking Authority (EBA) launches today a data collection exercise to advise the European Commission on appropriate amendments to the European Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVA) framework and inform discussions on the CVA risk charge in Basel. Banks with substantial portfolios of OTC derivatives are encouraged to participate in this data collection exercise on a voluntary basis.

Bank Of England: Transcripts Of Monetary Policy Committee Meetings
The Bank has commissioned a review of practices and procedures in its consideration of making permanent recordings and transcripts of Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meetings. The Bank has appointed Governor Kevin Warsh, a former member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and member of the Federal Open Market Committee, to undertake the review.

SEC Charges Utah-Based Retirement Plan Administrator With Defrauding Investors
The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced fraud charges and an asset freeze against a Utah-based retirement plan administrator who defrauded investors in self-directed individual retirement accounts (IRAs), causing them to lose millions of dollars of savings.
