SEC Charges Seattle-Area Hedge Fund Adviser With Taking Unearned Management Fees - Two Accountants Charged With Performing Deficient Audit Of Fund

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged a Bellevue, Wash.-based investment advisory firm and its CEO with fraudulently inflating the values of investments in the portfolio of a private fund they advised so they could attain unearned management fees.  The SEC also charged the fund’s outside auditors with performing a deficient audit that enabled the firm to send misleading financial statements to investors.

ACER Publishes The 9th Edition Of The REMIT Q&A

ACER has recently published the 9th edition of the REMIT Questions and Answers document. This edition contains the most up-to-date implementing information concerning the EU Regulation on wholesale energy market integrity and transparency. The Agency updates the REMIT Q&A on a monthly basis. The update covers all questions of general nature sent to the Agency via remit(at)acer.europa.eu. The Agency will respond to individual queries only in exceptional cases, however those who contact the Agency will be informed when a new update of the Q&A is published.

As global markets shuddered in August on Chinese growth fears, the downward pressure on oil prices and a further depreciation of the Russian rouble continued to dominate the outlook for economies in the EBRD regions, according to a new paper from EBRD economists.

Notice Regarding Conclusion Of Litigation Against Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc.

In litigation between JPX subsidiary Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (hereinafter "TSE") and Mizuho Securities Co., Ltd., (hereinafter "Mizuho Securities"), in response to a final appeal and a petition for acceptance of the final appeal filed by Mizuho Securities on August 7, 2013, TSE filed an incidental appeal and a petition for acceptance of the incidental appeal on September 27, 2013. The Supreme Court has issued an order to dismiss the appeals and refused to accept the case as the final appellate court. As such, the judgment of the Tokyo High Court issued on July 24, 2013 became final and binding (hereinafter "the final judgment"), and litigation has concluded.
