Securities Commission Malaysia Charges Former Deputy Chairman Of MMM With Insider Trading Offences

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) today charged the former Executive Deputy Chairman of Malaysian Merchant Marine Bhd (MMM) Dato’ Ramesh a/l Rajaratnam with three insider trading charges under the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007. MMM was a company that was previously listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd.

The Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) has revised the “SSE Measures for Assessment of Listed Companies’ Information Disclosure” to better carry out the assessment work, adapt to the new requirements for information disclosure of listed companies in regulatory transformation, and guide the listed companies to continuously improve the disclosure quality. The assessment on the promotion of regulatory transformation and the improvement of information disclosure’s effectiveness by the SSE has been added in the revision. Besides, the assessment system featuring score deduction has been adjusted to a score adding and reduction system characterized by a combination of subjective and objective assessments, with the scoring standard adjusted accordingly.

Monetary Authority of Singapore Takes Civil Penalty Action Against Lim Oon Cheng And Lim Huey Yih For Insider Trading

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has imposed civil penalties on Mr Lim Oon Cheng and his niece, Ms Lim Huey Yih, for contraventions under the Securities and Futures Act (SFA). Both Mr Lim and Ms Lim have admitted to committing insider trading. Mr Lim has also admitted to false trading.

This is intended as the cornerstone of a public, industry-wide framework for quality assessment of financial software and systems. To kick off the initiative, Cinnober Financial Technology is inviting influential players in the industry to participate in a working group, which is being convened in London on June 8.
