EBA Launches Qualitative Survey On Internal Models

The European Banking Authority (EBA) launched today a qualitative survey on internal ratings-based (IRB) models to analyse the impact of the EBA draft Guidelines on the estimation of risk parameters for non-defaulted exposures, namely of the probability of default (PD) and the loss given default (LGD), and on the treatment of defaulted assets (Guidelines hereafter), which are currently under consultation. These Guidelines are part of the broader review of the IRB approach that is carried out by the EBA to reduce the unjustified variability in the outcomes of internal models, while preserving the risk sensitivity of capital requirements. Institutions are invited to submit their responses to this survey by 27 January.

FINRA Fines Deutsche Bank $3.25 Million For Deficient Disclosures Concerning The Operation Of Its Alternative Trading System

Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced today that Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. will pay a combined $37 million to the State of New York and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) to settle investigations into false statements and omissions made in connection with the marketing of Deutsche Bank’s electronic equities order routing services, known as its “Dark Pool Ranking Model.” As part of the agreement, Deutsche Bank admits that it misled investors and violated New York State and federal securities laws; the Attorney General’s Office and the SEC have also censured Deutsche Bank for its conduct.
